A suspicious message was found in a bathroom on a United Airlines flight. For safety reasons, the aircraft was forced to return to Honolulu, Hawaii.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (21st), when a United Airlines plane was heading to Los Angeles but had to return to Hawaii due to a “potential security concern.”
The Boeing 777 returned to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport carrying 339 passengers and 10 crew members.
According to a statement from United Airlines, the potentially dangerous message was found in the aircraft’s bathroom.
“Police authorities boarded the aircraft and conducted a security sweep,” the company said. The statement did not specify whether anything was actually found during the sweep.
The FBI in Honolulu has not confirmed any arrests or provided further details about the security issue.
“We are rebooking customers on another flight to Los Angeles that will depart later tonight,” said a United Airlines spokesperson.
